Business Development Manager

Job Summary

An exciting opportunity is available for an experienced Business Development Manager to drive growth in the logistics sector, specialising in customs clearing, freight forwarding, and bonded warehousing.

Key Responsibilities

• Identify and secure new business opportunities within customs clearing, freight forwarding and bonded warehousing.
• Leverage existing relationships with importers, exporters and freight forwarders to generate revenue.
• Develop and manage a strong sales pipeline to achieve business development targets.
• Prepare commercial proposals, negotiate contracts and close profitable deals.
• Build and grow key client relationships through retention, upselling and cross-selling.
• Engage with senior decision-makers and identify new market opportunities.
• Collaborate with operational teams to ensure successful client onboarding and service delivery.
• Maintain accurate CRM records and report on sales performance.

Requirements

• National Senior Certificate (Matric).
• 7–10 years’ experience in business development, sales or key account management within logistics, freight or supply chain, including at least five years in customs clearing and freight forwarding.
• Proven track record of securing new business and consistently achieving revenue targets.
• An established network of importers, exporters and freight forwarders.
• An existing, transferable book of clearing and forwarding clients is essential.
• Strong knowledge of SARS customs procedures, tariff classification, customs valuation and bonded warehousing.
• Excellent commercial negotiation, strategic selling and relationship management skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and CRM systems.
• A relevant tertiary qualification in Business, Commerce, Logistics, Supply Chain Management or International Trade is advantageous.
